- Ephesians 4:17-24
God desires that His body (the Church) be unified. This unification is not an acceptance of anyone and/or anything. The unification of the body of Christ finds as its foundation a unity of the Spirit which is a common love for God (Ephesians 4:3). The Church loves God as we walk worthily of our calling, meaning that Christians live in submission to God’s word (Ephesians 4:1).
God provides a way for His Church to live worthily by giving gifts to build up His body to walk worthily. Among the many spiritual gifts, God enables some believers to teach and instruct His people so that they mature in the faith (Ephesians 4:11-16). As God’s Church matures, the new nature of each member of the body should become more evident. This new nature is the new creation wrought by God and given to each Christian.
So then, God designs His people to keep maturing and changing into the people He wants them to be. This design implies a change. As the change progresses in each member of the body, there is a unity of lifestyle.
