- Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
There are some people who can no longer dine at the table of wickedness. Their spiritual palates can no longer tolerate the taste of sin. Their change of appetite comes from the desire placed into their hearts from God Himself. The new food and drink of choice for these weary souls is righteousness.
Those who experience such a change of taste do not hunger and thirst after a righteousness which comes from within themselves nor do they desire the righteousness which the world offers. These types of righteousness are false and do not satisfy. The righteousness which is sought after here is the righteousness which comes from God. Only God provides real righteousness.
The wonderful promise of our master is that a hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be satisfied. The first feeding comes when one first asks the Lord Jesus for mercy but the meal does not stop there. The one hungering and thirsting after righteousness may eat endlessly from the Word of God. Someday, the righteous hunger and thirst shall find its complete fill when we see our Lord face to face.
