Neither Mom nor Dad budged on their respective plans. They argued. Mom told me that Dad got pretty upset. Mom finally gave Dad an ultimatum. She told him that if he wanted to date her, they were going to church. My Dad responded by angrily climbing into his car and speeding away…without Mom.
Before long, Dad’s car pulled back in front of Mom’s house. My father climbed out of the car, walked up to the front door and informed Mom that they were going to church. Dad trusted Christ as his Savior not long afterwards.
This story reminds me of what Jesus said about His people. He said that believers are the light of the world and that they should let their light shine before men (Matthew 5:14, 16). When the people of God live in devotion to the Lord, they influence others for good. Never compromise obedience to Christ for anyone or anything. Your devotion to God makes an eternal impact.
