My mother told me of an event which took place when she dated my father. My mom was a believer and, apparently, my father was not. The story goes that my father pulled up to my mom’s house to take her out on a date. In my dad’s mind, the evening was set. They were going to the movies. At least that was what dad thought.
My father explained the evening’s plans to my mother. The only problem was that my mom had other plans for their date. It was Wednesday and my mom attended church services on Wednesday nights. Mom simply attempted to correct my dad’s thinking, but my dad did not share the same interest.
Mom and dad argued. Mom told me that Dad got pretty upset. Mom gave my Dad a final ultimatum. She told him that if he wanted to date her, they were going to church. My Dad responded by angrily climbing into his car and speeding away…without Mom.
Before long, Dad’s car pulled back in front of Mom’s house. My father climbed out of the car, walked up to the front door and informed her that they were going to church. Dad trusted Christ as his Savior not long afterwards.
Believer, do you have an unsaved friend, spouse, or family member? Do not let them change your standards. Hold your ground. Always put Christ before any other human. In doing so, you are doing what you can to attract them to Christ.
