If this is true in marriage, and it is most certainly true, how silly would it be for my wife and I to return to the limited relationship that existed before our union as a married couple. Unless there is some sort of trouble in our marriage, our desire should be to strive to become closer and closer. Because of our freedom in marriage, we are free to draw closer to each other.
My example of the free relationship between a husband and wife exemplifies (somewhat) our relationship with God. Before becoming a son or daughter of God, we do not know God as we should. We may know about Him but we really do not know Him. After we are redeemed by Christ, we are free to really know God. We can know Him intimately. We may then begin a limitless relationship with the Creator of all.
Once we get to the place where we may know God so closely, how fruitless it would be to return back to live as though we do not really know Him. Our regression back to the ways things were before we knew God would be useless in light of progressing ahead in our relationship with God.

I acknowledge that no example exactly compares to the point to be illustrated.
