- Mark 1:40, 41 (NASB)
If you were a leper in the first century, you were an outcast. It would have been very dangerous for anyone to get close to you let alone touch you. Your life would have more than likely been not much more than pain, misery, and loneliness.
Knowing this, you can understand the desperation of the leper from our text above. This diseased individual hears about Jesus’ claims to heal and falls before the Lord asking for healing. Rather than recoiling in disgust, Jesus willingly reaches out, touches the sick one, and immediately heals.
Sin riddles the human heart with disease. It can make you an outcast; someone undesirable. It separates and damages. But the Lord waits willing to cleanse you. Jesus is not afraid to touch and heal you. It makes no difference what sin you have committed nor the number of times you sin. Cry out to the Savior and tell Him about your failure. He is willing to cleanse you completely.
