- Psalm 14:1 (ESV)
Those who deny that there is a God, do so at great peril. The Bible classifies such a person as a fool. One is not foolish in the sense of being stupid. An atheist is a fool in that he or she is a wicked person.
All people are unrighteous (wicked). But those people who bow their knee to Jesus Christ as Lord receive God’s own righteousness. They are forgiven of their sin. Since the atheist denies God’s existence, he or she denies the true source of righteousness and therefore remains in wickedness. All that is left for the atheist is folly.
God calls foolish people. He invites the fool to come and exchange folly for glory. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, fools can abandon wickedness and receive true righteousness.
